Hanoi's tourism sector continued its strong recovery and growth during the first ten months of 2025. According to the Municipal Department of Tourism, the capital welcomed more than 28.22 million visitors, marking a significant increase of almost 22% year-on-year.
During the monthly press briefing held on November 13, Nguyen Tran Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism, detailed this performance: 6.17 million international visitors, representing an increase of 23.6% in one year and 22.05 million domestic tourists, +21.4%.
Tourism revenues reached 108.22 trillion dong (equivalent to US$4.1 billion), representing a year-on-year increase of nearly 20%. This result reflects the sustained recovery and resilience of the sector after years of impacts related to the pandemic and global economic uncertainties.
One of the highlights was the National Day weekend, from August 30 to September 2, during which Hanoi welcomed approximately 2.16 million visitors, three times more than at the same time in 2024.
The number of international arrivals exceeded 80,000, a 35% increase, with China, South Korea, India, the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom among the largest markets. Total tourism revenue during the four-day holiday surged 80% year-on-year to reach 4.5 trillion dong.
For the whole of 2025, the capital plans to welcome more than 33.7 million visitors, which would represent an increase of 20.87% compared to 2024. This figure is notable, as it should exceed the initial target of 8.7% and represent 22.2% of the national total.
Tourism revenue is projected to reach 134.46 trillion VND, a 21.5% increase year-on-year, representing 13.7% of the national total. The city's accommodation occupancy rate is expected to average 65.5%, a 3.5% rise, indicating a strong recovery in the high-end hotel, restaurant, and tourism sectors.
